NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY SPEECH Good morning to our respected Principal Sir / Head Master Sir/ Head
Mistress Madam, all the teachers, students, guests and a very warm and
heartiest welcome to all. Thank you for allowing me to speak on National Science Day. “The science of today is
the technology of tomorrow” Science is the
noise of machines, factories, etc. which awakens us every day in the morning.
Our day starts with the application of science. Our forefathers put on clothes
woven by hand but our clothes are made in large factories where scientific
technology is used. We can travel from one place to another with a
quickness which our forefathers could not have dreamt of. In the morning,
we get news of events that happened yesterday in all parts of the world. If we
want to send a message to a person in America, we can send an email and he
will get it in a few seconds. If we want to speak to our friends far from us,
there is the mobile that will connect us. It is, indeed, true that science has
added tremendously to the comforts and conveniences of mankind. By inventing
medicines it has made our day-to-day existence relatively free from disease and
has to increase our length of life. These are some examples of importance of
science in our daily life. By these we conclude that we can’t live without
science. Science
plays major role in our life, so we have to celebrate the great invention day
in Indian science, i.e., National Science Day. National Science Day in India
celebrates on 28th of February in every year. 28th of February, 1928
was the great day in India when an invention in the field of Indian science was
completed by the famous Indian physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. He
was a Tamil Brahmin and first one in the Indian science, who had researched
such invention. To memorize and honor this event always in the future,
28th of February was asked to the Indian Government to designate as a
National Science Day in India by the
National Council for Science and Technology
Communication (NCSTC) in the year 1986. From then, the national science day was started celebrating all across the India as a great event in the field of Indian science. It is celebrated every year by students, teachers, scientists and researchers in all the schools, colleges, universities, educational institution including scientific, academic, medical, technical and research institutions of India. On
the first celebration ceremony of the National Science Day in India, the
National Council for Science and Technology Communication had declared the
institution of the National Science Popularization awards in order to recognize
an excellent and wonderful endeavor in the field of science communication and
popularization. Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman had worked from 1907 to 1933 at
the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, West Bengal in
India during which he had researched on many topics of the Physics from which
the Raman Effect (effect on scattering of light when passing through different
materials) became his great success and discovery which has been marked in the
Indian history. For his big invention he was honored through the various Indian
awards including the Nobel Prize in the year 1930. From the year 2013, the
“Raman Effect” has been designated as an International Historic Chemical Landmark
by The American Chemical Society. The national science day has been started getting celebrated as
the Science Carnival to recognize scientific activities and programs by the
participation of students from school and college, scientists from the state
and national faculties. National science day is celebrated as one of the main
science festivals in India, which includes public speech, exhibitions of
science movie, science exhibition based on themes and concepts, debates, quiz
competitions many more activities. The minister of science and technology give a message through
his speech at this day to the students, scientists, researchers and general
public of the nation. Every
Year National Science Day has a Theme at which we focus more. Yes, it is
overall a national science day, but we do focus on some particular things on
every science day. So, we have to know about the theme of National Science Day
of this year. The Theme of the Year 2021 for National Science Day is “Future of STI: Impact on Education Skills and Work.” This theme is standing here for
giving more opportunities; more support to the specially abled students or the
scientific issues in ordinary people mind is the central aspect of this theme.
Let me briefly restate these main
points. Science plays major role in our
life and we have to celebrate national science day for remembrance of the
Indian Legend Sir. C V Raman’s great invention Raman Effect.
“Science is a way of thinking
much more than it is a body of knowledge.” Well, that's all I've got say. My time's up anyway. I very much thankful to our beloved Principal Sir / Head Master Sir/ Head Mistress Madam for giving this great opportunity to share my opinion with you. Thanks to all for listening. Thank you, Than you one and all | |
